Sometimes, in cases of a crowded mouth, the dentist needs to pull wisdom teeth in the mouth to make room in the mouth for orthodontic treatment.\u00a0 The goal of orthodontic treatment is to properly align your teeth.\u00a0 If a tooth cannot brake trough the gum, because there is no room, Keizer Karelpark Tandartsen may recommend pulling it.<\/p>\n

During regular dental checkup, the dentist will analyze and observe with X-rays (made every two years) on regular basis, the need for extraction of wisdom teeth in cases of a crowded mouth. Most of the extractions can be done by the dentist.\u00a0 All other cases can be done by our implantologist Linde van Groningen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Treatment<\/h3>\n
\n\t

Before pulling the tooth, your dentist will give you an injection of a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. In some instances, your dentist may use a strong general anesthetic. If the tooth is impacted, the dentist will cut away gum and bone tissue that cover the tooth and then, using forceps, grasp the tooth and gently rock it back and forth to loosen it from the jaw bone and ligaments that hold it in place. Sometimes, a hard-to-pull tooth must be removed in pieces. Once the tooth has been pulled, a blood clot usually forms in the socket. The dentist will pack a gauze pad into the socket and have you bite down on it to help stop the bleeding. Sometimes the dentist will place a few stitches -- usually self-dissolving -- to close the gum edges over the extraction site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

After an extraction, your dentist will send you home to recover. Recovery typically takes a few days. The following can help minimize discomfort, reduce the risk of infection, and speed recovery. Apply an ice bag to the affected area immediately after the procedure to keep down swelling and take pain killers as prescribed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

After care treatment<\/h3>\n

After extraction you receive a form with all necessarily follow ups to prevent infection, discomfort. In case of bleedings that won\u2019t stop, Redness, swelling, or excessive discharge from the affected area, call Keizer Karelpark Tandartsen. Swelling is normal after extraction, but should reduce slowly after a couple of hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
